Yet another winter system...
Yet another winter system is making its way through the Tri-State and Central Kentucky regions. A current look at doppler radar (8:30 PM) shows a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain across the region.
This system is trucking right along at a current speed of around 50 miles per hour. This line of precipitation will clear out of the Tri-State within the next hour or so, and North-Central and South Central Kentucky by the early morning hours.
Due to the speed of this storm, precipitation amounts will remain low. Ice accumulations will remain low, with a maximum of a glaze. A dusting to a half an inch of snow accumulation is possible in North-Central Kentucky. In South-Central Kentucky, up to 1/2 inch of sleet could mix in. Here is a model rendering of ice accumulations, followed by snow.
It is clear that this storm will remain minimal for many areas; however, there could be slick spots on the roads in a narrow band. Fortunately, this system could be significantly worse, but the velocity will prevent any major accumulations.
