Wintry Weather Anticipated Tonight Through Tomorrow Morning
Good evening!
A winter weather advisory remain in effect for the Tri-State until 6 AM CST tomorrow. Freezing rain, rain, and snow all look possible for the viewing area tonight through tomorrow morning.
As of right now, the best chance for ice accumulations looks to occur in southern Indiana, southern Illinois and extreme western Kentucky. Models have placed the rain/ice line for this event almost on the Ohio River. Any change in temperatures may push the rain/ice line southward or northward.
This picture above is the Hi-Res NAM's modeled precipitation for midnight tonight.
For south-central Kentucky, this looks to be a cold rain event that may end as freezing rain, snow, or sleet during the morning commute, so use caution.
For the Evansville metro, freezing rain and sleet may switch over to snow as sun rises tomorrow, but it shouldn't last too long.
Once again, use caution if you head out tonight or tomorrow morning as roads will get slick.
BOTTOM LINE:
SOUTHERN INDIANA:
Up to a 0.25" of ice and less than an inch of snow.
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS:
Up to a 0.25" of ice, with isolated higher amounts possible and less than an inch of snow.
SOUTH-CENTRAL KENTUCKY:
Rain, possibly ending as brief period of freezing rain, snow, or sleet tomorrow morning. Watch out for flooding overnight. Turn around, don't drown.
